Lawn Bowls

On Thursday 5th November, it was a brilliant day to stroll through the Waitara community to attend lawn bowls at the Clifton Bowling Club...

Fellow class mates getting ready to test their skills

Students learned different terms for lawn bowls - such as the 'bias,' 'dead bowl,' 'forehand draw,' 'the jack,' and 'the head.'

Cameron has a steady aim to reach the target

Great bowl Ngapuhi!

Beautiful technique Ashlee!

Everyone trying their hardest to hit the target

Shared Reading - Term 4

When you don't fit in, and you're a kid, what do you do? Max just suffers alone, compressing his emotions inside his massive body. Kevin fights back by letting his intelligence and his imagination soar beyond his deformed body. Even if he can't save himself, Kevin can save Max.
He teaches Max how to use his imagination to create exciting adventures: Houses become castles, swimming pools become moats, and a hardboiled motorcycle mama becomes a damsel in distress. And he teaches readers compassion and that everyone is valuable and has something to contribute.
Our "Freak the mighty' shared reading wall shwoing examples of students' ideas and images from activities during our lessons.  Watch this space as there's more to come!

Whole School Ultimate Frisbee

Boys working as a TEAM!

This term the whole school has been practicing skills and techniques to play the game 'ultimate frisbee.'

On Friday 30th October the students were put into boys & girls teams to test these...

What stood out to all staff was the fantastic TEAM effort by all students!

Girls having fun showing off their skills!

Who can catch the frisbee and score a point for their team?

Nothing but air!!!

Our beautiful classroom space - Term 4

Term 4 and already this term's published work achieved by successful learners are filling our classroom walls very quickly!  One wall is not visible as the panorama photo application couldn't capture the entirety of our class.
